Want to quickly toggle Internet connection preferences on your Android phone? APNdroid is a free application available in the Android market which lets you enable or disable mobile data transfer over 3G/EDGE/GPRS Internet network, thus saving bandwidth when not required.

You can add APNdroid as a widget to your Home screen and quickly toggle Internet on or off. The application works by disabling or enabling all APNs and is quite helpful when it comes to saving your battery. So whenever you feel you only need basic call and SMS functionality on your phone, switch off the mobile data transfer protocols to get more battery life.

APNdroid lets you keep MMS and state notifications enabled, while still having the data transfer turned off. APNdroid comes with a plug-in which integrates with the Locale app for Android. The Locale app lets you automate your device based on locale, battery state etc. So using this plugin, you can easily configure APNdroid to turn off your mobile data connection whenever your battery reaches a certain leftover percentage.
