How To Root Google Nexus One With Android 2.1
Eagerly waiting for the official release of Google Nexus One, the most anticipated phone of 2010? Even before Nexus One is out (Google to unveil on January 5th 2010) , a forum member (Paul) of Android Modaco has rooted the device running on Android 2.1. Called ‘Superboot’ by it’s creator, this custom ROM cooked for Nexus One Android 2.1 is a boot.img which will root the phone after the first time you boot (by installing su and the superuser APK).
There is no need to flash the system partition, to use ADB shell or to overwrite the shipped ROM. You can just download and flash the boot image by following these steps:
Disclaimer: Root your Google Nexus phone at your own risk.
1. Download Superboot.zip file for your version of Nexus One ( check the device ‘About’ screen to find which superboot version you need to download). Or you could download an insecure boot file if you want to manually deploy su and superuser.apk).

2. Extract the file to a directory.
3. Put your Nexus One in bootloader mode, which means you should first turn it off, remove it’s battery, plug in USB cable. When battery icon appears on screen, replace the battery. Now tap the Power button while holding the Camera key.
4. Next, follow the instructions as per your OS:
Windows
Double click on ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’ file.
Mac OS X
Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh’ followed by ‘./install-superboot-mac.sh’
Linux
Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh’ followed by ‘./install-superboot-linux.sh’
That’s it. You will now have full root access to your phone so you can go ahead and install any themes or custom ROMs you wish to.
